I had about 2 hours playing around in my grandfather’s Dinan M2 this morning.
It’s fast, real fast. While it’s only 30 horsepower more than the Mustang on paper it feels like 100 more. The power really comes in after 2500 rpm and then it just keeps pulling well past the speed limit. Handling is superb and I’m certain that it’s limits are far beyond my skill, I could have as much fun as I wanted and the car had so much more to give. The seats aren’t my favorite and I feel like they should have given the M2 something much nicer than the base 2 series seat. All around it’s a wonderful thing and I can’t wait to drive it more.
The exhaust is a little ridiculous, burbles and pops anytime you aren’t on the throttle. That being said, it sounds amazing and I would love waking up the neighborhood on the regular.
The raw carbon inside is pretty neat too. I want one, it’s so good. The complete package is incredible.

Technically they’re not the base 2-series seats. Those have thinner bolsters and no adjustable thigh shelves. The M2 seats are largely similar to the M Sport seats in the M240i etc . The M2 Competition seats are bolster-ier.

The competition seats would be perfect, the regular seats aren't great.

Competition gets the M3/4 seats, engine (detuned) & mirrors (more?).

The competition is probably a monster. The "regular" M2 is great though, the seats are my minor complaint.

Old but still a BMW CCA instructor and a regular at HPDE events!

Oh, yeah, I’d be very happy with a “plain, old” M2 - ha!

The M2 is probably the only BMW in current production that I would ever consider owning.
